We Were Featured Performers at DC's Pink Tie Party

On March 13, 2026, 18 dancers of our community came together for an AVA first - performing at the National Cherry Blossom Festival's Pink Tie Party!
We were the featured performers during the event's runway show, where we performed two pieces choreographed by instructor Melanie Jerome Sirbaugh. The runway highlighted local fashion designers and was hosted by Carson Kressley (known for Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, RuPaul's Drag Race and more).
This signature fundraising event was held at Union Station in Washington DC and put a spotlight on fashion, food, travel experiences and more. It also marked the kick-off for the Festival's month-long calendar of cherry blossom themed events!
Our involvement with the National Cherry Blossom Festival isn't over quite yet! On April 11, we'll be making our 3rd consecutive appearance in the National Cherry Blossom Parade. During this televised event, we will perform twice: once with a featured recording artist (TBA) and during the finale as the primary dancers! These routines will be choreographed by Melanie & our Founder/Director, Leah.
Choreographer Spotlight: Melanie
Melanie was born and raised in Eldersburg, Maryland. She began dancing when she was three years old. Melanie attended Baltimore School for the Arts where she had intense ballet and modern training everyday. After graduating from BSA, she received a dance scholarship to George Mason University. There she earned her BFA in Dance, graduating with “Outstanding Achievement in the Major”. Melanie graduated in the “glorious” year of 2020 which she actually considers a blessing in disguise. She took the opportunity to spontaneously audition for the Tennessee Titans Cheerleading Team and was fortunate to join for the 2021-2022 season. Becoming an NFL Cheerleader has opened so many unexpected doors including choreographing for the DUKE Dancing Devils and is now the Assistant Coach for Mount St. Mary’s Dance Team. Melanie is so happy to be back in the DMV teaching, choreographing and of course smiling with so many dancers.
