Miss DC Crowning

Since 2025, AVA Dance Company has been invited to be the featured performers at the scholarship event that ultimately selects Miss DC. Miss DC is a prerequisite for competing in the renowned Miss America pageant.

This performance takes place in June, and dancers will learn a 60-second Hip Hop/Street Jazz fusion routine to serve as the event's official opening number. Besides the opening piece, we may also make additional appearances throughout the show.

This event isn't the only connection AVA has to Miss America! Contemporary instructor Cierra Kaler-Jones competed for the 2015 Miss America title as Miss New Jersey.

Due to the fast-paced nature of performing in this event, dancers interested in participating are encouraged to have at least an intermediate/advanced level of choreography retention and previous performance experience.
