Mental Health Awareness Month: AVA Members Share How Dance Supports Them

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to pause, reflect, and share the realities of our internal worlds. At AVA Dance Company, we believe that movement is more than just choreography; it is a language, an outlet, and, for many of us, a vital part of our mental health journey.

To honor this month, two of our own dancers, Tiffany and Lana, are sharing their personal experiences with how dance has become their sanctuary and how the AVA community has been part of their story.

Mental health struggles are often quiet, internal battles. When we talk about them—whether through dance, writing, or simple conversation—we break the stigma and remind each other that no one is dancing alone.

If you are going through a difficult time, please know that your feelings are valid. You don't have to carry them by yourself.
