Instructor Tips: Melanie

Not only are our instructors incredibly talented dancers, they know what it takes! In "Instructor Tips," our talented team share their top three tips for success in class.

We are thrilled to feature Melanie, a former NFL Dancer for the Tennessee Tis who has been teaching Pom and Jazz with us since early 2024.

Dancing with Poms can be a different sensation for dancers, since you're now incorporating a prop into your movements! Here are her top tips for improving in this style:

  1. Strong Arms! Your arms and poms are the focal point when dancing in this style, so always make sure to keep them tight and sharp.

  2. Deep plie! Using your legs and getting low creates levels and keeps the visuals interesting.

  3. Facials! It's clear when dancers are using their faces to display how much fun they are having with their performance and it can really elevate the overall experience for the audience!
