Hoops, we did it again!
On December 4th, as the Washington Wizards took on the Boston Celtics, 50 members of our AVA Dance Company community came together on the court to pull off our most ambitious production to date...to one of the world's biggest pop stars.
Our cast was split into two powerhouse groups: Hip Hop and Street Jazz. While each style had its moment to shine, the groups also performed as one for a massive, unified opening and a high-octane finale to the greatest hits of Britney Spears. The mix, created by AVA instructor Ashleigh of The Beat Lab, featured popular tracks like "Circus," "Womanizer," "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and more!
Our dancers began rehearsals at the beginning of November, giving them just five weeks to master a professional-level routine. This piece included 24 formation changes, 2 lifts, 2 tumbling passes, hip hop tricks, technical skills and more!
Seeing these 50 individuals—many of whom balance full-time careers and busy lives—come together to nail this NBA Halftime production! They're truly a testament to the talent and work ethic we have here at AVA.
Our next NBA performance will be during pre-game of the Washington Wizards' March 17 game against the Detroit Pistons! Learn more about how you can be apart of it here.
